What is NSSA?
National Social Security Authority, NSSA is a public institution, a government initiative that culminated in the introduction of social protection to Zimbabwean workers and their families. The Authority is mandated by government to administer Social Security schemes in this country. Currently NSSA operates two schemes, which are the Pension and Other Benefits Scheme and Accident Prevention and Workers' Compensation Insurance Fund (WCIF) respectively. Through these schemes NSSA provides protection to employees and their dependents for various contingents. The contingencies for which members are protected against are retirement, invalidity, death of a member and injury at work. In this way the Authority provides the first line of defense against poverty and destitution.
