    Social Security Cards and Numbers

    Q: I am contributing to NSSA every month, but I do not have a NSSA number. What should I do?

    A: If you do not have a Social Security Number, click on the Registration link and search either by ID number or by name and surname or call your nearest NSSA Office, where you will get your Social Security Number if you are registered

    Q: I lost my Social Security card, should I call any NSSA Office for a replacement?

    A: Yes.

    Q: My NSSA card has got wrong information, where do I go?

    A: Call your nearest NSSA Office with the card and the correct information. The correct information has to be updated in our computers.

    Q: I have been contributing to NSSA through my Employer, but I do not have a NSSA card.

    A: All cards were send through the Employers. If you did not get your card through your Employer, you should call at your nearest NSSA office.

     

     

    Change of Address

    Q: How do I change my address on my Social Security Registration records, as an Employer?

    A: Call your nearest NSSA Office and give them your new address, it will be changed.

    Q: How do I change my address on my Social Security Registration records, as an Employee?

    A: Call your nearest NSSA Office and give them your new address, it will be changed.

     

     

    Employer Contributions Record

    Q: My Employer has been deducting money from my salary under NSSA, how do I know whether my Employer is paying to NSSA?

    A: Call your nearest NSSA Office and enquire about your contributions to NSSA. These you will get, but if your Employer is not paying and submitting P16s to NSSA for update, we will not be able to give you.

    Q: How do I get details of my contributions as an Employer?

    A: Call your nearest NSSA Office and have your Social Security Registration Number ready.

    Q: As an Employer, I am not receiving the monthly bill, who do I talk to?

    A: Call your nearest NSSA Office and have your Social Security Registration Number ready.

     

     

    Employee Contributions Record

    Q: How do I get details of my contributions as an Employee?

    A: Call your nearest NSSA Office and have your Social Security Number ready.

    Q: I have retired, but I have not recieved anything from NSSA after contributing.

    A: You are entitled to a Retirement Benefit which can only be calculated for you after completing and submitting P9/P10 forms to NSSA.

    Q: I have retired, I want a refund of all my Contributions.

    A: You can not get a refund of all your contributions. The Retirement Benefit will be calculated for you at retirement after completing P9/P10 forms.

    Q: I was retrenched and now I want all my contributions back.

    A: You can only get benefits after attaining the age of 60 which is our early retirement age.

     

     

    Miscellaneous Questions

    Q: Who contributes to NSSA?

    A: Everyone working in the private sector and civil service. The civil servants joined the Scheme in June 2002.

    Q: I think NSSA pension scheme is a rip off compared to a private retirement plan I already have. Can I drop out of the NSSA pension scheme?

    A: No. NSSA pension scheme coverage is mandatory.

    Q: What type of Investment is NSSA embarking on to safe guard our contributions?

    A: NSSA is embarking on a lot of Investments to make sure that pensioners are paid what is due to them.

    Q: What is the retirement age?

    A: The early retirement age is 60 years, but one can also retire at 65 years of age or at 55 if you were in ardous employment.

    Q: Who qualifies for a Funeral Grant payment?

    A: A beneficiary after the death of the Contributor.

    Q: We have already met the funeral costs before claiming the Funeral Grant as we did not have time to claim. Can we now claim after the burial as it is now more than a month?

    A: Yes. You are entitled to the Funeral Grant even if it is after the burial. Complete the P9/P10 form and submit it to the nearest NSSA Office.
