CIS/Library Department

CIS is an abbreviation for Centre International d’ Informations deSe’curite’ et de Sante’au Travail” which means “International Occupational Safety and Health Information Centre in English. The CIS is a service of the International Labour Office (ILO) in Geneva, Switzerland and it was established in 1959 with the aim of collecting and disseminating all relevant information that contribute to the operation of occupational accidents, injuries and diseases. The CIS is assisted by over 100 national and Collaborating centres worldwide and provides users with comprehensive information in the field of Occupational Safety and Health
Zimbabwe CIS National Centre
The National Social Security Authority Division of Occupational Safety and Health is the CIS National Centre since 1994. However the Zimbabwe National Centre of OSH information was established in 1987.
Mission
To provide comprehensive OSH, Social Security and Workers Compensation information to all stakeholders through collection, dissemination and establishment of Library Information Systems. The CIS National Centre is directly linked to the key functions of Occupational Safety and Health Division made up of the following departments: Occupational Safety and Health Promotions and Training Inspectorate Medical Services Research and Policy Development
Membership
Membership is open to open to Corporates and Individuals. For one to be a registered member of the library (CIS), they should pay a membership fee. The current membership fee is Corporate ZWL$20.00 and individual ZWL$10.00 per year from the date of joining and it is subject to change.
